Dr Hay-Smith is a fully qualified aviation ophthalmologist (DAO) and can perform all the investigations required by CASA. He flies himself and has insight into the needs of pilots.
He has extensive experience with occupational medicals. He served in the British Army Reserve for 27 years before moving to Australia. He has seen active service in Iraq, flown in the back of many airframes, and has done numerous Service medicals
He is a member of ASAM (Australasian Society of Aerospace Medicine).
